This course teaches the skills that you will need as a paddler to handle what you have been trying to avoid.  Sometimes, your boat will tip over in rapids and you’re swimming down a rapid. More hazardous situations can occur too, although rarely if precautions are followed. This course is designed to develop skills to handle difficult situations. This course encourages all paddlers to be skilled participants and rescuers.

Since this is a single-day course it is important to come with the required skills in order to allow the course to run smoothly. These are the prerequisites:

You are a good swimmer and are not afraid of water; you have Moving Water Level 1 Solo or Tandem Paddle Canada Certification. (You have a base understanding of moving water, river signals, reading water, and knowledge of moving water specific equipment) or can demonstrate the skills required.

Certification: A certificate is available to those that successfully demonstrate the required skills. 

Please Bring:
Paddles, PFD/life jacket and helmet
-A white water helmet is [preferred, but most helmets (climbing, bike, etc) are fine.
If needed, a limited number of helmets are available for rent at competitive prices based on a first come first serve basis with priority given to our guided trips.
